ARENA SECURITY

If you plan to join us at Payne Arena for an event, please be aware of arena-mandated security procedures. Each guest will need to be cleared through security by passing through a metal detector.

Please be aware that this security standard is being implemented at all arenas. Your safety is always our primary concern, and we aim to be consistent with the best available security practices.

SECURITY FAQ

What steps can I take to get into the arena quickly?

Arrive early and be prepared! Have your ticket out and ready to be scanned. Remove items noted below, such as cell phones, keys and cameras, from your pockets and have them ready to be placed in the bin on the search table. Have your bags open and ready to be searched when you reach the search table. Avoid bringing large bags . The best advice is to arrive at Payne Arena no later than 60 minutes prior to event start.

If you do not have a bag that requires searching, you may use the No Bag/ADA door at any entrance, which may enable you to enter the arena quicker.

What items will I be required to remove before passing through the metal detector?

Guests will be required to remove cell phones, keys, eyeglass cases, cameras, large belt buckles, large metal jewelry and any other large metal items and place them in a bin before passing through the metal detector.

Are there any items I should avoid wearing or bringing to the arena?

Guests should avoid wearing steel-toed shoes, large pieces of jewelry or other items adorned with large pieces of metal. Weapons of any kind are prohibited.

 What if I have a concealed-carry permit?

Fans entering Payne Arena are not allowed to carry concealed or unconcealed weapons.  Pursuant to section 30.06 penal code (trespass by license holder with a concealed handgun), a person licensed under subchapter H, chapter 411, government code (handgun licensing law), may not enter this property with a concealed handgun.

Am I required to use the metal detector?

Anyone entering the arena is required to be searched by a metal detector or a physical pat-down. If you are not comfortable using the walk-through metal detector, please enter through the designated ADA door at any entrance, where you may request a physical pat-down or a wand screening.

 What if the alarm sounds?

If the alarm sounds at the metal detector, Guests will be escorted to a secondary screen area where they will be required to empty pockets and remove belts and jackets. In the event that prohibited items are revealed during a search, the Guest will be permitted to return to their vehicle with the item or the item will be confiscated. Payne Arena will not safeguard any personal belongings or other items.

What if I am in a wheelchair or need assistance?

Please proceed to the designated ADA door at any gate, where you will be asked to consent to either a wand or pat-down search in order to enter the building.

What if I have a pacemaker?

Extensive research has found no information to indicate that the metal detectors in use have adverse effects on medical devices (such as pacemakers) or magnetic recording media.
